Privacy policy
Effective date: 10 October 2026
Doodah is a coloring and drawing app made for children and their families. We built it to collect as little as possible. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the app.
The short version
- No ads, and no advertising or tracking SDKs.
- No third-party analytics.
- No accounts to create. We never ask for a child’s name, email or age.
- Drawings are stored on your devices and in your family’s own iCloud, not on our servers.
Your drawings
Drawings, coloring pages and cards are saved on your device and synced through Apple’s iCloud using the private CloudKit database of the Apple ID signed in on the device. That data is controlled by your Apple ID. We cannot see, read or access it. Deleting the app and its iCloud data (Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Storage) removes it.
Voice and photos
When your child describes a page out loud, speech is turned into text on the device using Apple’s on-device speech recognition. Doodah only accesses the photos you pick or take; it does not browse your photo library.
Making coloring pages
When you make a coloring page from words or a photo, the description, or a black-and-white copy of the photo, is sent over an encrypted connection to our server. The server forwards it to an image model provider (currently Google’s Gemini API) to draw the page, and the page is sent back to your device. We do not store the description, the photo or the page on our server. We keep only a count of how many pages have been made this month, tied to a random id created on the device, so we can apply the free and paid allowances. The model provider processes the request under its paid API terms, which do not allow using it to train their models.
Purchases
Payments are handled by Apple. We use RevenueCat to check whether a subscription or credit pack is active. RevenueCat receives the App Store purchase receipt and an anonymous, randomly generated id. It does not receive your name or email from us. See RevenueCat’s privacy policy.
Children
Doodah is designed for children under 13 and follows the requirements of the App Store Kids Category, COPPA and the GDPR. Purchases and outside links sit behind a parental gate. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you think we have received any, email us and we will delete it.
Sharing pages
When you share a page as a .colorpage file, it goes directly through the app you choose (Messages, Mail, AirDrop and so on). It does not pass through our servers.
This website
This website is hosted on GitHub Pages, which may briefly log the IP address of visitors, like any web server. The website has no analytics or cookies.
Your choices
- You can turn off iCloud for Doodah in Settings at any time; drawings then stay on the device.
- You can cancel subscriptions in Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
- You can ask us any question about your data, or ask us to delete purchase counters linked to your anonymous id.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update this page and its effective date. Significant changes will also be mentioned in the app’s release notes.
